We mamas all keep curls from our baby's first haircut, but it's hard to preserve this milestone beyond a scrapbook. This is an exciting new design that offers a unique keepsake and is the first of its kind on all of Etsy (and maybe even beyond) - how cool is that?!
This special keepsake pendant is crafted with an actual wisp of hair. I need only a small bit of hair to create this necklace, so you will still have plenty to preserve.
To accomplish this design, I lovingly hand cut a circle of fine silver clay and inlay a cubic zirconia birthstone and your baby's hair. When the pendant is kiln fired, the hair is burnt away but the imprinted design remains. When I oxidize and hand polish the pendant, your child's hair leaves a rustic and unique pattern that stands out beautifully. The fired pendant is pure silver (.999) and approximately 3/4" in diameter.
Those who see your pendant will not know it's patterned by your child's hair unless you choose to tell them - which I think adds an even more special element to this necklace.
Birthstones are customized according to your child's birth date and I can hand stamp a short message on the back of the pendant (for example: initials, a name, or a date).
Each pendant is finished with secure fine silver jump ring - the sample photos show a hand-wrapped bail, which I am happy to create for you upon request. Your pendant will be strung on an 18" sterling rolo chain unless otherwise specified. Additionally, this pendant could also be cut into the shape of a heart; please ask about this option if you're interested.
Every pendant will include a "before" photo that will be emailed to you, similar to the photo in the listing - I think it's important for you to see how your baby's hair was placed on your necklace before its being fired.
